HOOKED... WITH JERRY JENKINS...

Hi folks,

Got an unusual post today. Recently, I was invited by mega bestselling author Jerry Jenkins  (Left Behind series and many other bestsellers) to take part in an interview with him for his Master Class series of classes for writers on my book Hooked. We had a blast and here's the video his crew headed by Matt Lempert produced. Jerry has generously allowed me to post it on my blog and other sites.

To watch it in its entirety, click here. I see it's possible to click on the picture below, but if you do, you only see half of the picture and none of my lovely kisser, so to see the whole enchilada, just click on the link. Thanks!

Fiction that Grabs Readers at Page 1 with Les Edgerton

Any and all comments are appreciated!

Blue skies,
Les

Ha! A quicky recap of Hooked! Funny. Out of all I read in that book, I remember two things -- inciting incident and story-worth problem. That's what I remember. The rest comes up under, "I don't know why. I just do it that way."

Good video. Too bad I couldn't see you much.

(Oh, this is Lynn. The nut that asks you questions once every 5 years. Last one you connected me to Linda Thompson.)

Thanks, Lynn. You must have clicked onto the picture. IF you click on the link as indicated, you'll see both of us. About Linda Thompson--have you kept in touch with her? If not, she just signed a three-book deal including the one she wrote in class.

Hi! I'm a member of Jerry Jenkins' Writers Guild, and I watched the video over there. Wow, talk about Hooked! Jerry's introduction definitely hooked me to want to know some of your backstory! I do have a question: is Les Edgerton your given name? If so, it's perfect! Edge of our seats for sure! Thanks for emphasizing that it's okay to listen to our instincts. God bless! :)

Why, thank you, Rebekah! You just made my day! And, yep, that's my given name... although, four years ago, I learned that the guy I always thought was my father wasn't--that he and my mother lied to me all my life. I felt like changing it, but at my age, that's more trouble than it would be worth. What's kinda bad is my mother knew she was pregnant by another guy, yet made me a "junior." She really knew how to embellish and sell a lie...

Wow, you've got some potent backstory for sure! The plot thickens. It's so cool how people's real stories are so much meatier than fiction, even if we may have to wait till forever to hear "the rest of the story." Like Marco Polo. Died a laughingstock. Until they found out his recipe for gunpowder worked. May the Author of all good stories bring your loose ends together into a good ending much more satisfying than T & L in your example! :0 Because He sure made you into a compelling character with the perfect name! :)

Hi Rebekah, If interested, this (and much more!) is in my memoir which comes out in the spring from Down&Out Books and is titled Adrenaline Junkie.

See ya in Indy!
