Hang in there!

Hi folks,
Sorry I haven't posted in a few days, but I started teaching a new class for Phoenix College and finished up a class for Writer's Digest in the past week, and I've been covered up with that along with work for private clients I work with on their novels.

I'm preparing a post to hopefully ascertain the level of interest in a workshop/retreat I'm planning on having next summer. I need to make sure I have top guest presenters available for it as well as top agents, but as soon as I get the details sorted out, I'll post information here on it.

Thanks for being patient!

Blue skies,
Les

Hope your class is going well.

I'm winding up my subbing stint. Our last day is 06/23. Then I hope to spend more time writing. And (the dreaded) querying.

It will be interesting to hear about your workshop/retreat.

Thanks, Theresa! Good luck on your queries. I hate doing that, too!

I'm getting excited about the possibility of the retreat. Doing a lot of phone calls/leg work, and hope to report something soon.

I'm sure your retreat will be very successful, you talk about the art of writing in a way that is clear and accessible. I'd be there if it wasn't a tad far from Australia.

Would DEFINITELY be interested in a workshop. Go Les!!! Count me in.

Charmaine, I didn't know you were an Aussie. Well, if you come we'll put a Budweiser on the barbie... (U.S. twist on your custom...) And, Australia's not that far. Last year, I was a presenter at the Writer's Institute at the U. of Wisc. and there was a young lady there from Luxembourg... and we became friends and she ended up coming to the 10-day retreat I appeared at later in the year in Kentucky. So... if you started swimming now, you could make it...

Mary, I KNEW I could count on you!

Ooh! Are you offering scholarships for that retreat? Will there be a bus heading there? I'm po'. Partial joking aside, that'd be cool. Which authors do you have in mind to invite at the moment? Any sci-fi and fantasy folks?

Hi Tiffany,
We'll probably be able to offer one scholarship, but that'll probably be all. It's really hard to turn much of a profit and I can't do it without at least making a little on it.

It won't be genre-specific or related. Just focused on good writing, period. Will be all kinds of writers there. As far as authors, we're exploring that now, but we want authors who are successful and not one-book folks. Have some other writers in mind, such as those who write good writer's how-to books. And we want to have top agents and not lower-echelon ones. Gonna be a lot of work!
